Tieton Grand Prix

It was a huge honor to be able to run on the streets of Tieton. We were given two blocks of time. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. The course was an “L” with six turns. The start finish was adjacent to the park in the center of town.

We started with a trepidatious baby step on Saturday. A short three lap race. With that test we realized we could be safe, responsible, have a blast and put on a good show. We expanded the program to 12 laps with a driver change on Sunday.

These races were scored as much on sportsmanship as on finish position. The winners in both races were lightly penalized for winning and notable sportsmanship was rewarded with small bonuses. In Race 1, Anonymous stopped her car and got out to help a fellow driver that had skidded off the course (both cars finished). In Race 2, Reginald Molehusband saw the car in front of him get into a little trouble on turn 4 and took very generous evasive action to make sure there was no incident, giving up two places in the process. Lella Lombardi drove a heck of a race for her first time out.The official results are below but in fact everyone that participated was a winner: drivers, spectators and the silly cyclekart phenomena.
